~Edward Bach
Native to Europe, and Iceland, Scotch Heather is a common plant that grows on heathlands and moorlands. It has been introduced to North America, Australia, and to New Zealand, where it is considered an invasive weed. This cold hardy plant can survive sub-zero freezing temperatures and thrives in otherwise infertile soil. During winter, Heather is an important source of food for foraging sheep and deer. The dried flowers have been steeped to make an herbal tea to ease coughs, colds, congestion, and digestive complaints.
Dr Bach wrote of Heather, “Those who are always seeking the companionship of anyone who may be available, as they find it necessary to discuss their own affairs with others, no matter whom it may be. They are very unhappy if they have to be alone for any length of time.” – The Twelve Healers
