Common name: Gold
Chemical formula: Au
Gold. That most rare and precious of metals. Located in row 4, column 11 of the Periodic Table of Elements, Aurum metallicum has unique properties. It is the most pliable and malleable metal, able to be cut with a knife, stretched into a wire, carved, pounded, buffed, heated, hammered and reshaped. It is almost indestructible. It is a good conductor of electricity and is a component in electronics and electrical systems. In its natural state, gold is usually pure, unmixed with other metals. Gold has always been highly valued and considered to be an item of great worth in every culture throughout history. For a time, it was the basis on which the monetary standards of the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, and other countries was based. It has decorated the tombs of rulers, crowned their heads, and adorned their bodies. Gold has worked its way into our language in the form of sayings like “good as gold,” “the golden years/age/era,” “silence is golden,” “heart of gold,” and “gold-digger.”
Gold is also valuable as a homeopathic remedy for a variety of ailments, including depression, sinusitis and heart disease. The person who could benefit from Aurum metallicum is usually serious, idealistic, and intensely focused on being the best in their field of interest. For them, an internal imbalance comes as the result of devastating grief, especially after failure, humiliation, or disappointed love. Sometimes the individual will turn to alcohol and drug abuse to cope with severe disappointments. As with all homeopathic remedies, not all symptoms will be present in one person.
